Faculty, fellows, and students at the Center for International Development regularly publish research in a wide range of academic and policy venues.

These include working papers in either our faculty or fellows CID Working Paper series, books, book chapters, articles in top peer-reviewed journals, policy pieces, op-eds in news outlets, reports, and conference papers.

We've highlighted some of our latest releases. See the navigation to the left for complete listings of all our publications.

Functional Structures of US State Governments

An understanding of modern government is limited by a lack of comprehensive, reliable, comparable data. A research collaboration involving Stephen Kosack, Michele Coscia, Evann Smith, Kim Albrecht, Albert-László Barabási, and Ricardo Hausmann generated a new way of empirically mapping the functional structures of governments. The work is published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States (PNAS).
